Re: your talk page vandalism
[edit]Hi Contrib, I got your message. I think I reverted the vandalism on your talk page a little before you sent me that message, so hopefully you're not seeing it anymore. If it's still there, let me know, and I'll try to figure out why. Thanks! — Knowledge Seeker দ 20:16, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Deletions
[edit]They don't have any information, are origional research, are about someone not noteable and probably a few other reasons. I suspect that the first two you listed may be moved to a VfD since they may not be right for a speedy delete. I think the last one has already been review and removed. Thank you.

Jamaica
[edit]Subheadings like "News from 2005" and "Soccer news" don't belong in the main country article. "News" as such doesn't really belong in Wikipedia articles at all. Anything new can be incorportated into appropriate articles. In addition, you should generally add headers only when you have something to put in there (they are sometimes put in incomplete articles to flesh them out, but that is not standard policy). Guettarda 18:16, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Is their a way to combine the news and soccer of 2005 into the Jamaica article? If their isn't I understand. Thanks Guettarda. --Contrib 18:19, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I am not sure where things would best fit in - do you have any specific ideas what sort of "news" you have in mind? News relating to politics could be added to the Politics of Jamaica. Football news might fit into one of the articles in Category:Jamaican football (or one of its subcategories, Category:Jamaican football clubs or Category:Jamaican footballers. Or you might want to write a new article related to Jamaica. Since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia you should try to write things in a format that doesn't need to be constantly updated - something newsworthy would (hopefully) fit into an appropriate article. Similarly, if you have enough information to start a new article on Golf courses in Jamaica, feel free to do so. But it's good to add these articles to appropriate categories (if you don't know how to add things to categories ask me and I'll explain it), and more importantly it's useful to add links to these new articles from existing articles - so, for example, an article on tourism in jamaica, an article on sport in jamaica, would have links to the Golf courses article...the main Jamaica article might have a link to the golf courses article in the Miscellaneous_topics section. Links are important, as are categories - there is no Table of Contents for Wikipedia, and you can't just flip through it like you can a paper encyclopedia...links help people find the page, integrate it more closely into the whole project. New articles & subheadings
[edit]Hello! You've probably realised that there are problems with some of the edits you've been making. We don't have 'breaking news' sections for articles such as Turkey, Egypt, etc. Wikipdia is an encyclopædia rather than a source for news. Occasionally (as with the recent election of the Pope) articles have to be up-dated as news comes in, and lists of recent deaths obviously have to be up-dated regularly — but that's about it.
Also, you should try to avoid creating lots of stubs; it's much better to spend time on an article, adding information, and making sure that it's presented in Wikipedia style. If you do create a stub, make sure that there's enough information for the reader to know what it's about. Stubs that contain no real information are likely to be deleted (as are lists with no items, or with no items with Wikipedia articles, or with no obvious value).
Don't let this put you off contributing, but it's important to get a feeling for the sort of articles that Wikipedia is looking for, and for the sort of presentation that articles should have. With regard to the former, you might take a look at some of these:

Thank you Mel for trying to help me out, and I apprecite it. You obviously know your way around and I'am glad that your trying to help me out. I know that some of my articles are not up to the level that they should be and I'am sorry for that but it's good to know that I can help delete some vandalism and try my best to add on to articles. If you have any more tips for me please go right ahead I will probably need them. Thank you again Mel. --Contrib 19:07, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
List of streets
[edit]Hi Contrib, I just thought I'd let you know that I have redirected this article you created to List of roads and highways. Rje 18:41, Apr 22, 2005 (UTC)

Contentless articles
[edit]I have put delete-tags on a lot of articles you have created in the last couple of hours, as they had no or very little content. Why don't you spend some time writing one decent article instead of starting a lot of pages with only headers or lists with only one item? - Uppland 19:06, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Your message
[edit]Whuch articles did you have in mind? Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 16:48, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Any of them. --Contrib 16:55, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
ZOOM
[edit]I deleted the list because, well, not to put too fine a point on it, it was a list of a lot of children who are completely unknown apart from being on the programme. If any of them have gone on to have interesting careers, they could be added to the article. On the whole, lists (whether as parts of articles or as articles in their own right) should only be added if they do something useful for the reader. Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 17:18, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
So you don't think the ZOOM casts are important enough. The casts were like a guide of the kids who had taken part on the show. Besides the introduction their is like nothing left for the ZOOM article. You are right about the kids though, only their first names were avalible anyway, except for a few. So you can't think of another way to include the ZOOM casts? Well if you think of anything please let me know. I really think the ZOOM page should have as much information as possible. Get back to me Mel. --Contrib 17:23, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Okay Mel the ZOOM article is up to you. If you can help wikify anymore of my pages please do. --Contrib 17:31, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- The point is that the names will mean nothing to (and do nothing for) anyone except the children and their families. The additional problem for the "current cast" list is that it fixes the article to a particular time. Remember that this is an encyclopædia (and is likely at some point soon to be issued in fixed form — when it won't be up-datable). Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 17:34, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Whatever you see fit, Mel. --Contrib 17:36, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Lists again
[edit]There isn't already an article that lists shoe brands — but nor should there be; it's not suitable for an encyclopædia. First, it would be huge if it were thorough, but secondly, it isn't really of any use to the reader. You see, why would anyone want to look up a list of brands of shoe? Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 18:30, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Mel their are lists of many things and the list of shoes might be huge but it's interesting. If you want it gone then its gone. If you have anymore advice please give it to me. --Contrib 18:34, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- But interesting to whom? Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 18:39, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- A detective trying to trace a footprint perhaps? Rich Farmbrough 14:31, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I see your point Mel. I'am just going along with you on the removal of the cast lists. I really wish their was a way they could be added though. Each season their is a new batch of Zoomers. Anyway Mel do what you have to do. --Contrib 18:42, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Blanking vandalism
[edit]Thanks for helping to identify vandalized pages. Instead of simply blanking the page, however, it would be helpful to mark them for speedy delete by inserting {{d}} into the page. That way an admin won't have to examine the history to ensure that it meets the speedy delete criteria. If you blank the page, the history is still available. Once a page is deleted, even the history goes.
Thanks. Jinian 20:09, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
Whoa, easy on the deletes. See Wikipedia:Dealing with vandalism for instructions on vandalism in general, and Wikipedia:Candidates for speedy deletion for guidelines on when it is appropriate to use {{delete}}. Gazpacho 21:15, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
Please do not blank articles, even if they have little content. After all, how did you expect me to transwiki a blank page? --Dmcdevit 00:39, 6 May 2005 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Russkiy Razmer
[edit]A tag has been placed on Russkiy Razmer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. The article The Brain (club) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
This has been unreferenced and in CAT:NN for 14 years. I couldn't establish that it meets WP:ORG or WP:GNG.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Boleyn (talk) 19:08, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
