Old talk
[edit]"However, the present Solicitor General (Harriet Harman MP QC) is a Solicitor." Surely she's actually a Queen's Counsel, hence the letters QC after her name? JiMternet 12:35, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Not all QCs are solicitors. Since 1994 solicitors have been appointed QCs. Mrs Harman was appointed one upon becoming Solicitor General. All AGs/SGs are so appointed.
Enhanced Fleet Street AND Newspaper Argument to an England's PM-earnest Argument(Date of the Added Note:25/8/05)
The BBC mentioned recently that Tony Blair calling the _legality question_ starting the last gulf war _outlawed by all internation laws; the Attorney General of England responded:It could become a legal problem.
- This appears to be gibberish to me. Anyone able to rewrite it in English? David | Talk 20:41, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
Sources
[edit]What is the source for the list of Attorneys General? Ardric47 01:07, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
The page about Attorney Generals does not actually say what the Attorney general is, what he/she/it does, how they get their job, how they are monitored, etc. etc. In short, it replaces one name "Attorney General" by a description that legal people in the UK probably imagine, in their innocence, that they understand. Which they probably don't. Please could someone who knows more fix this page? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by sixareen (talk • contribs) 19:53, 29 July 2006.
Criticism section?
[edit]This page needs one, since the office has frequently come in for criticism due to a lack of transparency and lack of separation of powers. See here for example. Malick78 (talk) 14:55, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
Wikilinked names
[edit]Should all the knighted individuals have 'Sir' outside the wikilink? Inconsistency here.--User:Brenont (talk) 17:17, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
Why include names in the intro?
[edit]The article is about the office and its functions, etc. The person occupying the office is secondary, therefore I don't think it should be mentioned in the intro. Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 21:21, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- @Rui Gabriel Correia: the coverage of the person occupying the office consists entirely of the sentence " The current Attorney General is Jeremy Wright, MP." Secondary does not mean "zero coverage" ;p. Ironholds (talk) 00:50, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
- Ironholds I have no idea what you are talking about when you say "zero coverage". Of course it can be included, but not right at the top. You could right the entire article without even mentioning who the title holder is and the article would sill make perfect sense. That is what I mean by secondary. Just like you could right about the institution of Mayor of [city] without citing that person. I am not saying ignore, it, I am just saying not so close to the top. Look at Mayor of New York City (not mentioned in intro) and President of the United States (mentioned right at bottom of lengthy intro). But perhaps I am wrong, I see quite a few other insances where the name is cited right at the top. Perhaps there should be some WP guidance on this? Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 11:04, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
- The current holder gets a single sentence, one-clause long. I don't think this is important or disputed enough a topic to necessitate site-wide guidance. Ironholds (talk) 17:53, 24 November 2014 (UTC)

Upper or lower case?
[edit]There is currently a discussion here over the use of "Attorney General" vs "attorney general". Further comments welcome. Thanks Martinevans123 (talk) 18:31, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
