Looks like possible vanity, question relevance.--Boothy443 04:39, 3 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Based on some Google searching, I'd delete. Only 3 hits for diatribe+"wellington speaking union". Searching for diatribe+wellington or diatribe+"debating society" turned up lots of hits but seemingly almost nothing on the group. If the group can be established as noteworthy in a meaningful way, then I vote instead to move to Diatribe (debating society) and delete the redirect (or at least replace the redir with a disambig). I've edited the entry to remove hints of hubris and promotion. I'd be happy for it to be moved to Diatribe (debating society) as suggested. This is a notable club in the recent context of Wellington (NZ) club debating - which is diminishing in popularity and not well represented on the web, but which has a long and, I think, note-worthy heritage. I'd be interested in embelishing this heritage with entries on WSU and other clubs, but I'll wait and see the verdict on this one.
How about if it's edited again? Or better yet, put up a disambiguation page? The definition of "diatribe" is: "a malicious written or verbal attack". Thomas Paine's Common Sense could be an example of a diatribe against British rule. I wouldn't mind doing the necessary editing.--Querl Dox 9
