Dubious

[edit]

The album set a record by being the 1st debut rock album to have 4 #1 hit singles ("One", "What's This Life For", "My Own Prison", and "Torn".)

Where have they been #1? What charts? Why does the table below tell something different? -- Harro 21:49, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It is post-grunge and is not original grunge.

[edit]

The sound of My Own Prison is more grungier than their other releases. But it is not known as a grunge sound. Yes it has many many characteristics and influences of the original grunge and their music and lead vocalist voice sounds very alike to those of Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. However, it is still not label as grunge. My Own Prison was label as Post-grunge which is the more radio-friendlier version of grunge. Also, this album has a record label deal while many grunge bands from the 80s didn't sign to major record labels and didn't promote their sound and music like Creed did with My Own Prison during the late 90s. Sure a lot of grunge bands sign to indie record labels like Creed did with this album but the main different here is that their record label didn't promote their albums and their play shows in gigs. Creed in the other hand played shows at a large stadiums or heck even arenas and they were sold out. The sound of this album is also Post-grunge because post means after. Is not that post-grunge has nothing to do with grunge, it had a lot of things to do with grunge but post means that it is grunge from the era after the seattle one from the early 90s. My Own Prison was released in 1997 and they promoted it.

This album is post-grunge and not original grunge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mikeis1996 (talkcontribs) 00:41, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
