Clean this up!
[edit]Who wrote this crap? It needs to be cleaned up and written properly.Adiemus 17:10, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
Why don't you help and do it yourself?
it might be of note that, the caliber of gun can be determined by the spent cases but not the manufacturer of the gun, that can only be done by ballistics tests matching bullet to bore. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.244.235.236 (talk) 01:26, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
Missing (External)Link?
[edit]There are other crime stories on Wikipedia that link to extended CrimeLibrary.com reportage; is there any particular reason why this story does not have a link to their Milat/Backpacker Murders feature, or is this just an oversight? Hi There 02:18, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Runaway Train music video
[edit]The article states:
Milat's three German victims, Gabor Kurt Neugebauer, Anja Susanne Habschied and Simone Schmidl, appeared in Soul Asylum's film clip for the song "Runaway Train". The song was about the large number of missing people around the world. It was not known at the time that three were all victims of the same serial killer.
I saw the music-video today, there were three sequences with four missing people each, all showed with names... but the three german victims are not included, therefore (and because the statement is unsourced) I think it should be removed. Weapon X (de) 21:52, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

General
[edit]I think this article need more facts and ingoing discriptions of the murders and about ivan milat. /matrix17
I started a rewrite on this but soon realised it is a hopeless cause. The "backpacker murders" entry is much better - far less over-excited and tacky-tabloid. I suggest killing "Ivan Milat" and starting again.
- Shouldn't the articles be merged? Socrates2008 16:08, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Merger proposal

- The result was merge into Backpacker Murders. -- momoricks make my day 10:58, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
As Socrates2008 mentioned above, this article should be merged with Backpacker Murders. I can't think of a reason why there should be two articles on essentially the same topic. This article has a good amount of information; however, it is poorly written and not properly referenced. My vote is to merger Backpacker Murders into this article, as Milat is the only person suspected of and convicted for the murders. Most serial killer articles I have read on here refer to the nicknames of the cases but don't have separate articles about them. In cases such as the Snowtown murders, there were 4+ people involved, so it makes sense to have articles about the case and each of the main perpetrators. --*momoricks* (talk) 11:37, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
- No sense in having two articles on precisely the same topic is there? Or am I missing something? Are there toes getting stepped on? Don't be clumsy.Calamitybrook (talk) 21:12, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well merging the two would be good. I take it that the crime is better known by the Backpacker Murders and not the name of the murder? If that is the case then a merger would be good. I would also like the picture of Ivan Milat on the Backpacker Murder rather than the trail picture. I don't know anything about this so I don't know which name is popularly known. Two articles probably could be written in different propects, like the Backpacker Murder, written more or less like it is. The Ivan Milan one though needs a lot of work as said but it could give better information about this person and history up to what caused this serial killer. But like I said it is horrible in the condition it is in now and would require a lot of work. So a merger would be good but again taking the little bit of good from the Milan article that isn't a repeat and I think the picture is appropriate for the other article, so go ahead and merge. I'd help but I've never done that before so I will have to leave that to you Momoricks. --CrohnieGalTalk 11:48, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- I think merging the two articles would be a good idea, and I support the move to the page about the murders, not the biography. I'd also suggest moving the entire serial killer infobox to a lower section in the murder article at the place where Milat is introduced in the article. That way it will cover all aspects. Please let me know if you need anything. Wildhartlivie (talk) 21:45, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
I'll tackle merging the Ivan Milat article into the Backpacker Murders article this weekend, unless someone beats me to it...heh. mo talk 10:01, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I got distracted by some pressing Wiki stuff. I'm going to add {{Fact}} tags to information that needs citations. If citations have not been added in a week (2 December 2008), I will exclude the information when I merge the articles. momoricks make my day 00:30, 26 November 2008 (UTC)
- I completed the merge; however, I moved only the infobox and information about his arrest and appeals. The rest of the information was not sourced and either controversial or not notable. momoricks make my day 10:58, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
