We definitely would need more explanations about what this guard does, what cases it handles, etc. David.Monniaux 11:54, 10 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Fictional name affair

  • the true name of the Guardia di Finanza is: Guardia di Finanza, not Financial Guard. So the Polizia di Stato is: Polizia di Stato not Italian State Police. More: the name of article of Departamento Administrativo de Seguridad is: Departamento Administrativo de Seguridad not Administrative Department of Security.
  • the name of article must to be : "Guardia di Finanza" ( the true name), not "Financial Guard" !!!
The name of this article was "Guardia di Finanza". Why do you changed ??????

Discussion

Any additional comments:

Essentially, this is a request to reverse this move. The article currently uses Guardia di Finanza consistently. Google returns 57900 English pages for Guardia di Finanza, so it's widely used in English, while Financial Guard returns only 626, and many of these are either Wikipedia-derived or unrelated to the Guardia. The page history is a tangled tale of moves, vandalism by blanking, and protection. There's even been a reverted cut and paste move of a talk page! Possibly, much previous discussion has been lost and/or is now only in the various talk page histories. Andrewa 07:46, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Pmanderson and, by extension, Vegaswikian support the use of the "most familiar name in English". The tests carried out by Andrewa indicate that this is indeed "Guardia di Finanza". This article has been renamed from Financial Guard (Italy) to Guardia di Finanza as the result of a move request. --Stemonitis 18:46, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Name change

This is ENGLISH wikipedia. See Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English).
The above debate is irrelevant, because a small group of editors on one page cannot over-rule wikipedia policy. If you wish to change the policy, go to the talk page of Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English). Mesoso2 16:06, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
