Plot Synopsis
[edit]Where's the plot synopsis? Is it because nobody actually watched it to the end? ;-) user=Soren84
- Because we don't spoilers? I have actually seen it several times. It's actually quite good. // Liftarn (talk)
- Of course "we" (Wikipedia) include (sic) spoilers. And no one cares about whether you have seen it or what you thought of it -- this page isn't a blog. -- Jibal (talk) 02:52, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
Untitled
[edit]I never knew that this film existed until I saw one of Gary Larson's the Far Side strips that referenced it. The strip was of "the Video Store in Hell" or something, and it had hundreds of copies of Ishtar — but nothing else. Now, thanks to Wikipedia, I know what the movie is about without having to see it. :-) Does anyone think the Larson strip reference is worth including in the article? I'm not sure, myself. • Benc • 09:37, 18 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- I say go ahead. Its persent low level of content warrants "stub" status. --— FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 05:52, Apr 27, 2005 (UTC)
Removed content
[edit]I've removed some of the content in the article- namely an interview with Dustin Hoffamn, a fan blog, and a statement from the website. The Hoffman interview served no real purpose, but since it may be of interest, I've linked at in External links. The fan blog is fairly unreliable since, well, it's a blog by a fan, and the quotation about the movie being "loved by all" comes from either the movie's website, which makes it incredibly vain and unreliable, or from the blog, which fails under the same criteria. --Wafulz 22:09, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
This
[edit]Is another page about a film that just talks about critical reaction to the movie without actually saying what the film is about. The only thing I can gather from this page is that it involves intentionally bad music and the desert, and half of that I could have discovered by looking at the front of the box. I would simply put it in myself, but I have not seen the movie. That, of course, is why I looked it up in the first place. Master Deusoma 18:09, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I've thrown in an expansion tag at the top. That's about all I can do. --Wafulz 23:08, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
This was a funny movie; not real funny, just plain funny. If the budget hadn't gone overboard and the head of the studio not panned it himself, the movie would've been just fine in most people's minds. What gets me is that most people don't understand that the songs are SUPPOSED to be bad, but they're so bad that they're comedic, which in itself is a talent --- the bad songs are the funniest part of the film and most people don't get it. I believe another big problem is that Warren Beatty is someone people love to hate due to his former "beefcake" look. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.168.219.21 (talk • contribs)

Ishtar
[edit]Has anybody here seen the movie "Ishtar"? Does the fact that it means "Bisect" in Arabic have anything to do with the movie? Armyrifle 23:32, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- I have seen it (more than once actually). It's a funny movie and certainly not as bad as some say. Don't know what the title means, but did you read about Ishtar? // Liftarn

Extra Space Before The Sucession Box
[edit]Please remove it, thanks I don't know how
Rationale: it is unnecessary and against MOS. If you any refutations, please let me know on my talk page, thanks.68.148.164.166 (talk) 08:13, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Plot?
[edit]Per above, where's the plot? (The top entry isn't dated, but spoilers doesn't seem as much an objection now.) RJFJR (talk) 18:07, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
- I am not sure if the article has ever had a plot summary. I looked through the article's page history and found no such section in past revisions. It may have to do with the film's lack of release on DVD (for Region 1, anyway). We would probably need a European editor to get the DVD and provide a plot summary. Alternately, we could try to find a secondary source that explains the plot, but it probably will not be very detailed, as I imagine most people would not be interested in writing up to 700 words about the story. Huge link in references
[edit]This link is a monster and messes up the margins of the page. Furthermore, I don't see how it relates to the article, but maybe there's some kind of reference to Ishtar within the book. In any case, that link shouldn't be there. I'd like to just delete it, but instead I'll suggest to anyone who knows more about references than I do that it should be converted to something that fits on the page. - Teiladnam (talk) 22:05, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- Teiladnam, I converted the citation into one that details the book and the page number. Thanks for the heads-up! Erik (talk | contribs) 22:54, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- Hooray! - Teiladnam (talk) 13:12, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Box-office bomb
[edit]In the third paragraph there's a link to the 'List of biggest box-office bombs' article, but (despite its hyped-up reputation) Ishtar isn't even in the top 51 that are listed there. Shouldn't links be directly relevant to the article you're reading?213.127.210.95 (talk) 18:38, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
