Procedural. The page was deleted without being listed on VfD for over a week and it was protected without being listed on the protected page page. Let's just leave it at that and not make an issue of it. --mav 05:49, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)

There was an episode of spamming, however. Nothing was lost by the deletion, since the contents were posted on another article. Don't bother deleting since the spamming was stopped. Just blank it and redirect it back to gold standard. I don't really want to deal with this advocacy piece right now, however, since I'm trying to get ready to work on on Nestor Kirchner. 172 05:56, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)

On the far right blame for the Great Depression rests on the post-war "gold exchange standard," which was put in place instead of returning to the prewar "classical gold standard." His distinction is a matter of advocacy. He wants the Gold Standard article to deal solely with "classical gold standard." Just to avoid the controversy, Gold standard, the long existing article, can deal with both the "classical gold standard" and the postwar "gold exchange standard." However, separating the articles makes a political statement. And it's one that doesn't really need to be made. We already deal with monetarist and classical views on this subject in Gold standard and the postwar changes were already articulated by previous editors. 172 06:15, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)
