Down in the criticism section, it says "In a 2004 article for the Washington Post, Michael McFaul argues that the NED is not an instrument of U.S. foreign policy; as an example of this, he states that the NED was willing to fund pro-democratic organizations even when the U.S. government was supportive of non-democratic governments in the region.[55]" and the citation is about US intervention in Ukraine, but there are a slew of reliable sources that contest this claim and state that the "revolution" was US-manufactured and designed for western interests.[1][2][3] Maybe this sentence is not needed. McFaul's article includes general statements about the NED, and our article was referencing those general statements in the section; he is quoted accurately. As such, I have reverted your removal. If you want, you could make an argument for WP:DUEWEIGHT, but I don't think that will get very far. Incidentally, I think some of your claims about the Orange Revolution might be WP:FRINGE, based on my reading of the relevant Wikipedia article and your sources. Hi BilledMammal my bad for misinterpreting that but could you please explain how my claim is fringe when it is backed by mainstream, reliable publications and how come you changed Latin American critics to within Latin America critics? I thought it would just be easier to read if you put Latin American critics. Cheers. ButterSlipper (talk) 06:26, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi all. I edited to highlight NED was an initiative of President Reagan and is part of his legacy. Unfortunately my edit was reverted for being "vague". I don't understand why it is considered vague. Thanks.---70.53.45.159 (talk) 03:00, 23 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Given that the right-wing NED was set up to be a market-driven/pro-corporate group, how can it have any real interest in supporting fully independent trades unions or improving works rights?
