Wikipedia talk:Wikipedians/Photographers
The initial list of Wikipedian Photographers was taken from Featured Pictures and the Candidates page. - Gaz 13:52, 14 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Is there a way to add a "non-breaking space" in HTML lingo to the comments boxes for people who have not included comments in order to close out those table cells? Amadeust 16:45, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- HTML has an , but I'm not sure why it's needed--at least, in my browser, the table looks fine as is. Elf | Talk 21:26, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Good point. I just checked with FireFox and it looks OK. Internet Exploiter and Netscrape seem to have an issue with this table. Will check with Safari when I get home later today. Amadeust 01:09, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- Safari, Chimera and Mozilla display this page correctly. So it appears that the problem is confined to IE and Netscape (under MS at least). No issue there. Amadeust 07:10, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I'm using Netscape 7.something on my Mac and it looks OK; IE 6.0 on this Windows machine looks sucky. So it's probably (ahem) a Microsquish effect... Elf | Talk 19:12, 19 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Silly Question
[edit]Why isn't this page broken down into regions Gnangarra 14:49, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
- I agree that placing photographers into regions may make it easier for people looking for local photographers to cover a request. What are other people's thoughts on the above idea? Tom Webb 09:27, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
New Photo Matching Service
[edit]Have you seen an article on wikipedia that needs a photograph but you can't travel a thousand miles to take it? Do you love taking pictures for the wiki but aren't sure what our needs are? I've created Wikipedia:Photo Matching Service to solve both problems by matching photographers with articles that need photos. To a certain extent it duplicates Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Photographers, but its a bit more useful for finding someone to take a photo because its sorted by location. Additionally, the page also includes a list of needed photos for any given location so anybody can see what photos we need and take them for us even if that person doesn't want to list themselves as a photographer. Anyway, the page is pretty bare-bones at the moment and I would appreciate any comments that people have GabrielF 18:02, 30 November 2006 (UTC) Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_%28proposals%29"
Barnstar discussion
[edit]Wikipedia:Barnstar and award proposals/New Proposals is considering a new Barnstar to be given to people who make great combined contributions to Wikipedia articles and the Commons free-use image collection. Please come by and state your views. Thanks, Johntex\talk 16:50, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Photo Request Cleanup project?
[edit]Hi all Wikiphotogs:
I am trying to organize a project to clean up the Category:Wikipedia requested photographs category and related subcategories. I've been using these categories as a source of requests to fulfill, but they're all chockablock with random and unrelated requests and are hard to navigate. If you're interested in helping, please see User:Twp/Drafts/WikiProject Photo Requests for more ideas, and add your name at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Photo Requests if you'd like to help out. Sortable table for taking requests
[edit]I've made the table sortable, as a start towards making it usable - if desired - as a place to go to find a photographer. Locations would probably have to be changed, to something like Country, State/Province, City/Town (for example, "USA, Maryland, Rockville"), to be really useful. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 02:14, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
Attribution in Image captions
[edit]Should attribution be given in photo captions, i.e. "Photo by John Doe?" A proposal at the Village Pump wants your opinion: Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)#Photograph_attribution_in_image_captions (Mind meal (talk) 14:16, 26 April 2008 (UTC))
List clean-up
[edit]I would like to remove some of the completely inactive users on this list. For example, Cgs openly declares that he is no longer around . . . since 2005. Jenlucas made 4 edits on a single day in 2006 and hasn't been back since. If contributors do come back to the project, then they can re-add themselves to the list, if they are still interested.
The list is of very limited navigability already, and of little use to anyone if half of the entries are ex-contributors. Leaving these inactive accounts on the list also does a disservice to those who are seriously interested in contributing photographs.
Are there any objections? Any thoughts as to what the time for inactivity should be? I would suggest one year, as that is how long an inactive account is left before it can be merged or a similar account name created.
As I suspect this page isn't very "watched", I'll wait a few days before I just go ahead. Maedin\talk 18:13, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
- As predicted, no one is very interested! I will just carry on. I've noticed that the page is actually for Wikipedians who have already contributed their own work, and apart from being inactive, there are a few on the list who don't meet that basic criterion. Maedin\talk 17:42, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
- Go for it, it would definitely benefit from a clean up. Mfield (Oi!) 07:03, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
Finding people by distance to request
[edit]Hello everyone, if you want to be found by people looking for photographers near certain coordinates please replace your plain table entry in this list by an inclusion of template:Photographer Row as described in the introduction. A copy and paste template will show up, once you edit this page. I'm going to ping the people from this list, in order to have them notified. If you have any questions, hints etc. - please tell.
