Isn't the OAU now defunct, replaced with the African Union? -- April

Yes

Bias suggested

[edit]

This article is biased, really in how it is written more than in what has been written. The history-- for example of the period immediately after independence-- seems to be demonstrate a lack of consideration of the events, a lack of thoughtfulness in its style. Rather than explaining France's involvement in the coups d'etat, for example, it simply states that France was behind them. We need facts, not assertions. -ALC

  • I have added some words in the text about France's involvement. I don't think that "lack of consideration of the events, a lack of thoughtfulness in its style." makes an article NPOV. Also, the writer ALC does not tell what events should be considered, nor does he tell how the style should/can be changed. Furthermore, it is extremely difficult to proof France's involvement in the coups, but it is more then likely that they were involved, giving there interests in the region (businesses, French settlers, the strategic location), the involvement of French mercenaries, their status as former colonizer of the Comoros and their political/military involvement in other regions in the same time.

- PL

Perhaps there is bias, I can't really tell, but it's written in a spirited way 'playing musical sultans' that while perhaps not being entirely proffessional is quite endearing and enjoyable to read. Personally, I like the article. Phileosophian 22:16, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

– To differentiate between Comoros and the Comoro Islands/archipelago, which is made up of the country of Comoros and the French overseas department of Mayotte. The history of Mayotte does appear to be within the scope of this article Kowal2701 (talk) 15:43, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose The first move would leave the Comoros—a sovereign state for almost 50 years—without a dedicated "History of" article. Are there any other sovereign states without an equivalent article? And no, the history of post-1974 Mayotte does not appear in this article, nor should it; I don't think it would make sense to cover, say, both the 2008 invasion of Anjouan and Operation Wuambushu in the same article.
The second move also seems unnecessary since the Comoro Islands are also called "the Comoros"; the Comoro Islands article is titled that due to natural disambiguation, which isn't necessary for the sub-article. Similarly, Comoros forests doesn't need to be moved to Comoro Islands forests; Geography of Samoa doesn't need to be moved to Geography of the Samoan Islands, despite the existence of American Samoa; and Japanese occupation of the Solomon Islands doesn't need to be moved to Japanese occupation of the Solomon Islands (archipelago), despite the existence of Bougainville—they're just less WP:CONCISE. The scope of the article is clear from the context. Malerisch (talk) 04:08, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed that that’s problematic. I suppose Comoros does refer to the archipelago sometimes, and it does talk about Mayotte’s split Kowal2701 (talk) 06:41, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
