Segway expense
[edit]Massey University is well known for its excessive spending on segways for 'security' purposes.
Is this true??
No...but good story.
- Yes it's true... sad, yes, but true. And I should know, I've seen the guy drive by on it! They apparently only bought one (or was it two?), but someone writing in to CHAFF (the student paper) calculated that for the cost of that one they could have bought a fleet of mountain bikes that would have allowed multiple guards to move with just as much ease. As it is they've only got the one guy running around on it, I think the rest just drive around in cars. Ah well, at least I know where my money's being spent... :) Master Thief GarrettTalk 6 July 2005 23:18 (UTC)
Seeing the guy drive by on it doesn't make Massey known for excessive Segway spending - but those were got rid of years ago. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.123.96.22 (talk) 21:26, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
Aviation
[edit]I've removed the following comments that were added to the Aviation section of this article regarding Frank Sharp: "who was administratively released in 1993 by the air force after the $600,000 upgrade to his house came to light. After his discharge from the RNZAF, a damning report was issued by the Auditor General entitled "Report on Expenditure on the Base Commander's Residence at RNZAF Ohakea" which strongly criticised both Mr Sharp and the RNZAF. Mr Sharp had previously enjoyed an exemplary air force career, having been leader of the RNZAF Skyhawk Aerobatic Display Team." While correct and verified, this information belongs in an article on the person himself, as it does not relate to the university (which is the topic of the article!). Personally I'd think many potential students doing research about Massey's school of aviation would love to know that a man who was essentially fired for financial misdealings now has control over their student accounts, sets fees and charges and applies levies and charges when he feels like it
Sorry about all the edits. I made a couple of small errors and had to change them but forgot to mark them as "minor edits" 1bj05hua (talk) 05:23, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
Surely the aviation section should come under College of Business, can someone who knows more about formatting than me do something too it. Nzv8fan (talk) 06:37, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Coordinates
[edit]Why are the coordinates presented those of the Wellington campus? There are three campi/campuses. --130.123.104.22 (talk) 07:07, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
- The coordinates should be for the main/original campus or head office, which would appear to be the Turitea site. Feel free to correct them.-gadfium 08:46, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
Hokowhitu
[edit]As of 2016, the Hokowhitu campus has been sold, and is no longer used for classes. Some administrative functions are still based at Hokowhitu, but is no longer considered a campus. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.61.93.104 (talk) 02:48, 13 July 2016 (UTC)

A tiny bit more detail: Classes/Lectures ceased in 2013. The Library, Bus Service, Student Liaison all ceased at this time. During 2014, Massey relocated most of it's services off the campus, leaving behind on its Programming/Applications team and some Student Administration functions. The remainder of the campus was leased out to the New Zealand Army/New Zealand Air Force and Te Wananaga. In 2016, carparking, security, the staff cafeteria and all remaining functions that had space to return to on Turitea left. The remaining staff members are due to leave by end of 2016. All Massey signage has been removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.123.96.22 (talk) 03:34, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
