Old talk
[edit]I left the slightly modified original statement: "But Ukrainian historians stress that the mutiny aimed to overthrow the newly-declared Ukrainian state in favor of the recently self-declared Bolshevik government of Russia citing the fact that the majority of the industrial workers in Ukraine were ethnic Russians at the time.". However, if possible, could someone please bring up some references to such historians at this talk page. Cheers, Irpen 07:03, Mar 18, 2005 (UTC)
- I got no responses to substantiate the claim about the anti-Ukrainian component of the mutiny. So, I deleted it and left only an accepted class component. I will have no problem if this is restored if some respectable references are cited.
- I also deleted information about the looting that followed the Bolshevik takeover. There is no dispute, that this statement is factually accurate. But the truth is that looting and mass murder occurred in Kiev upon every takeover of the time, including those by the White Army, Petliura and Directoria. So, in the context of the events, the looting after Bolshevik takeover is nothing particularly notable. The full account about the horrible history of Kiev events in 1918 belongs to the Kiev article and I hope someone will write this in one of the next versions of that article. - I realize that this comment was made over two years ago so your not likely to respond, but it would make sense to include the looting, regardless of whether or not it happened before in other circumstances. I won't try to re-add it though, because that wouldn't really be fair. Ostap 02:55, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
Confusing references
[edit]The very first reference makes no sense. It describes the movie of Oleksandr Dovzhenko Arsenal where its main hero gets shot upon from the Ukrainian nationalists while yelling that he is Ukrainian. I think the same thing happened in Tskhinvali in 2008. Again the local government is wrong and Russians are as the white sheeps, the defenders of the oppressed. XA.
